Susan Elizabeth Schernitzki (nee Officer) of Hubert, North Carolina, passed away on May 27, 2024, in Harrisburg, Missouri, at the age of 66 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on February 3, 1958, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Susan was a loving and happy individual, always with a smile on her face. She had a friendly demeanor and enjoyed engaging with people, often striking up conversations with strangers while out shopping.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Paul Thomas Schernitzki, her daughter Jessica Murphy, son-in-law Robert Murphy Sr., grandchildren Destinee, Mariah, Robert Jr., Aaliyah, Alannah, her sisters Mary Downey, Linda Crites, Sara Dugas, several nieces, a nephew, her step-children Paul Scott Schernitzki and Rebecca Schernitzki, and a very dear friend Joyce Fuemmeler Arrowood. Susan was preceded in death by her father Bill Q. Officer, mother Maxine Officer, brother Steve Officer, sister-in-law Cheryl Officer, and niece Racheal Crites.
Susan was a Registered Nurse who provided compassionate care for Physicians Home Health before working at The University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, in the surgery clinics. She earned her associate degree in nursing from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri, after graduating from Rockbridge Senior High School in Columbia, Missouri.
Susan enjoyed traveling with her husband, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her dedication to her profession and her unwavering love for her family.
Details for her celebration of life will be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
She was a wonderful person. She made a amazing daughter also. She was loved and will be missed by so many. Sending you all the love and hugs one can send.
