Betty Ellen Manus

Betty Ellen (Mullin) Manus, 90, of Independence, Missouri,  passed away June 19, 2024.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00am, Friday, June 28th, 2024 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, MO.

Betty was born August 6, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Doc Anderson Mullin and Grace Ellen (Hancock) Mullin.  She loved to travel, driving fast wherever she went and loved having family get togethers. Betty was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, 601 S Liberty Independence, MO.  She was always full of life, lighting up any room she entered with her infectious smile.  Up until her last days she would tell the doctors, or anyone who asked how she was doing, “We will get through this and I’ll be back up dancing on the piano soon”!  

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Doc and Grace Mullin, her husbands; Grady Manus, Marion Smith and Forest Quinn.

She leaves behind her 5 son’s; Grady, John, Jim, Jerry and David as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Betty touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege to get to know and love her.

To my dearest family, here are some things I would like to say; But first of all, to let you know that I arrived okay.

I am writing this from Heaven, Here I dwell with God above; Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I am out of sight; Remember that I am with you every morning, noon, and night.

That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and said, I welcome you.

It’s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.

I need you here so badly, you are part of My plan; There is so much that we can do to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things that He wishes for me to do; And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed in the middle of the night, the days chores put to flight; God and I are closest to you. When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years; because you’re only human, they’re bound to bring you to tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain; Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you, what God has planned; but if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over, I am closer to you now than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too; that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and in pain; then you can say to God at night; my day was not in vain.

And now I am content, that my life was all worthwhile; Knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go.

When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind; I’m walking in your footsteps only a half a step behind.

And when it’s time for you to go, from that body to be free, remember you’re not going, you’re coming here to me.
