Gregory Duncan Henehan, 66, of Grandview, Missouri passed away July 13, 2024. A celebration of life will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm on August 3, 2024 at 6906 East 205th Street, Belton, Missouri, 64012. Friends, family, colleagues and classmates are all invited to attend.
Greg was born January 18, 1958 to his parents, John “Jerry” and Lois (Tompkins) Henehan in Kansas City, Missouri. Greg graduated from Grandview High School in 1976 and was a lifelong resident of the Grandview/Belton area. He worked for Anderson Survey Company as a land surveyor for 35 years.
Greg was the best dad to his 4 children growing up; he was fun, funny and loving. We treasure the memories of the occasional weekend vacations to Neveda, Missouri, going fishing, playing in the backyard with us and all the holiday and birthday celebrations. He was supportive in all of his kids activities, whether it was sports or Boy Scouts, always volunteering to help coach or assist in any way.
He enjoyed drawing and was quite good, despite his own criticism. At various times throughout his life, he also tinkered with creating leather pieces, model trains, radio-controlled helicopters, and drones. He was a passionate Chief’s fan his whole life and was a vocal couch coach during games. Some of his own favorite memories of his childhood were playing with the kids in the neighborhood and rough housing with his brothers. As an adult, he cherished his time fishing with his dad and his visits with his mom at the nursing home. Always a lover of animals, he cherished his chunky K-9 companion, Minnie, whom he loved sharing all of his human food with at mealtimes.
Greg is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Henehan and his brother, Doug Henehan. Survivors include his mother, Lois Henehan, brother Phil (Mary) Henehan, sister Suzie (Dennis) Douglas and his four children: Jennifer Cosgrove, Patrick (Vickie) Stranathan, Jeremy (Lucy) Stranathan and Angela Stranathan. He was a grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
