Roy D. Ball, 94, passed away July 11, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 7th, 2024, at the Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church, 28901 NE Colbern Road, Lake Lotawana, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or Advanced Hospice of Kansas City.
Roy was born on June 19th, 1930, in Ackworth, Iowa, and graduated from Simpson College in 1953. He was a gifted man and served his community as a teacher and clerk of courts until discovering his vocation at Western Electric, where he proudly worked for over 30 years.
In 1965, Roy married the love of his life, Arlene Viles, nee Crockett, and they celebrated 49 remarkable years together. Roy and Arlene lived their lives with joy, welcoming friends and family to their cabin for 40 summers, traveling through islands and continents and making their annual winter retirement pilgrimage to Texas’s Rio Grande Valley.
Roy was the quintessential family man. He took his role as patriarch seriously, bringing warmth to the large family gatherings he loved. He was endlessly proud of his four daughters and lit up when he was referred to as a “girl dad.” Roy also doted on his grandchildren and took pride in their many achievements. He called himself the “luckiest man alive” because of his close family relationships.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Minerva and Harold Ball, four siblings, Howard, Ivyl, Edith and Raymond, and his dear wife, Arlene. Roy is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Ebbert (Bryan), Julie Lacy (Ron), Catherine Brattin (Kenneth) and Laurie Steffee (Sean). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
I’m so sorry for your loss. May the memory of your father bring joy and happiness in these sad days. How could it not? Your parents were such fun, loving people, the pictures are testament to that. Sending love and hugs to you all.
Sorry for your loss. Roy and your mom were loving, family oriented people. They loved family and friends. So many special times at the lake for many of us. May God’s grace be with you as you mourn his loss. Love you all
My heart is with you.
