Lois Irene Borkowski (Kortyka)

Lois, we will miss you more than words can say.  The whole world is less bright without you in it.  But we will cherish every moment we shared together and the memories we have of you.  They will last forever.  Lois Irene Borkowski (Kortyka), 78, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away December, 4, 2024 at CenterPoint Medical Center from complications created by kidney failure. Lois was born June 16, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois.  She said her goodbye to family and friends in her last few days with us.  According to her wishes she did not want a funeral and wished to be cremated.

Lois was proud of being born and raised in Chicago, IL. She was married to the love of her life, Larry Borkowski for more than sixty years and raised three sons that created a lot of joy with six grandchildren and one great grandchild.  She had a loving brother, John, that moved to be closer to her in Kansas City.  She had several very close friends that were like family to her, and she thought of them during her last days.  Lois spent ten years in Huntsville, AL where she became a Realtor at Ben Porter Agency.  Lois’s last twenty years were spent in Lee’s Summit, MO where she established a close relationship with her sons’ in-laws.  She loved going to Branson, MO.  She liked football because her boys participated in the sport.  She became an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs but kept up with the Chicago Bears.  She loved to babysit her grandchildren.  She loved her bird, Pauly.  Lois had a fun life and traveled throughout the world.  She always lived fearlessly, because she believed life was to be enjoyed. Her fearless nature made her someone to be held in high regard.

Lois was preceded in death by John and Irene Kortyka, parents, Cindy Kortyka, sister, and Luke Borkowski, son.

Lois is survived by her  husband, Lawrence E. Borkowski; brother, John (Angie) Kortyka; children, Larry (Michelle) Borkowski, Lee (Jennifer) Borkowski, John (Sarah) Borkowski; grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Casey, Justin Borkowski, Kylee Borkowski, Jake Borkowski, Logan Borkowski, Ben Borkowski; Great Grandchild, Caroline Casey.

Larry- My deepest sympathy to you and your wonderful family on the loss of Lois. I will always remember your wedding which I attended when I was 6 or 7 years old. I thought Lois was such a beautiful bride! And the wedding was very fun too with lots of dancing. Love and prayers, Theresa Jeszka Drew
