Anna Mae Stetzer

Anna Mae Stetzer, 95, passed away peacefully, December 12, 2024 in Columbia, Missouri where she was a resident at The Bluffs.

She was born June 11, 1929 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Marshal Avery Pierce and Frances Jane Hobbs.
She was raised with her two brothers, Jay and Frank on ‘Valley View Farm’, Town of Washington, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin.

Anna Mae studied at ‘Iowa State Teachers College’/’State College of Iowa’ (now known as the University of Northern Iowa). Later she completed her Masters degree in Library Science at UNI.

She loved academia and was a life long learner. She was especially interested in US and World history.

She was known for helping families in need.  Anna Mae volunteered at her grandchildren’s school library.  When needed, she played piano where she attended church at Conger Street Church of God in Waterloo, Iowa.

She enjoyed collecting sheet music, performing in the Sweet Adelines, attending musical theater and concerts like the Blackwood Brothers.

She loved thrifting, camping, and playing card games like Spite and Malice.

Anna Mae loved to travel, visiting most states and some parts of Europe.

She retired from Saint Francis Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa.

Anna Mae married Duane Stanley Stetzer August 28, 1948 and together they had four daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane and her daughter Penelope.

She is survived by her daughters Sandra Kay (Kenneth) Stokes of Columbia, MO, JoAnna Eileen (Tom) Johnson of Austin, TX, and Robin Marie (Daniel) Weiss of Waterloo, IA.

She had eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

    We were all very lucky to have been a part of her life and have so many fond memories of her and times spent together
