Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, Fredrick (Ric) Nelson Rogers passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, with his devoted wife, Sheillah, by his side.
Born in Woodward, Oklahoma, on February 20, 1944, Ric was the only child of Marjorie Nelson and Frederick Monroe Rogers. His family soon relocated to Southern California, where Ric developed a lifelong love for dogs, horses, old westerns, motorcycles, and cars.
At 21, Ric enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. After nearly three years of service, he was honorably discharged and went on to pursue his education. Ric graduated from San Fernando Valley State College with a degree in Political Science and later enjoyed a successful career in banking and finance.
In 1986, Ric met Sheillah Palmer Blunk at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, California. The couple married in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1990. Ric became a beloved member of Sheillah’s large, welcoming family and was cherished by all who knew him.
Ric was a man of many talents. He was an athlete, woodworker, jeweler, and musician, and above all, a fun-loving spirit. He was always open to new experiences and deeply valued his time with loved ones.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO, and Woods Central/Lenoir Woods in Columbia, MO, for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2025.
Ric was a wonderful individual. Linda and I loved his gentleness and sweetness. He always had a smile. He and Shelliah were a part of our Pot Luck Group for years. He will be missed.
