Nannie Henrietta (Taylor) Hill
December 19, 1934 – December 28, 2024

Nannie Henrietta Hill, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, in Lenexa, Kansas, at the age of 90.

Born on December 19, 1934, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Nannie was the daughter of Samuel Taylor and Elizabeth (Love) Taylor. She was the first of their three children. Her hardworking parents instilled in her the values of perseverance and compassion. She carried these values throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.

In 1957, she was united in holy matrimony to Porter Hill, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter.

Nannie retired after a dedicated career as a security guard at Pleasant Valley Middle School, Southeast High School, and West High School within Wichita Public Schools. She was known for her kindness, fairness, and unwavering commitment to the safety of students and staff. Outside of work, she enjoyed trying her luck at casinos, hunting for great bargains, and spending time with her family.

Nannie was preceded in death by her husband, Porter, and her cherished children Mark Hill, Cheryl Hunter-McShan, and Christopher Hill. She is survived by her devoted sons, Jerrold (Debra) Hill of Kansas City, Kansas, and Kevin (LaShon) Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister Noweta Ealy of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandchildren Chris Hill, Taylor Hunter, Tyler Hunter, and Charly Dyann Hill; and nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory forward.

Nannie’s warmth, wisdom, and enduring love will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private interment will be held at Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas.

“Her love leaves a legacy that will never fade.”

    Dear Hill Family,
Had the pleasure of working with Nan at West. Great lady and we had a blast joking and kidding each other. She was always making sure my basketball players were always being held accountable. It was a pleasure to work with her and share many stories together . May god take her in his arms and always protect her.
    Sincerely
Coach Mike Bonczyk of West High School
