Barbara Ann Masey

Barbara Ann Masey passed away July 2, 2025 in Lawrence, KS. She was born on May 13, 1950 in Chicago, IL but grew up and lived the majority of her life in Texas. She had recently moved to Kansas to be close to her daughter, Tamara. Barbara lived life to the fullest and on her own terms. She had several occupations throughout her life She worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years and managed the Johnson family kennel business (Houston area) until she retired. She enjoyed grooming dogs and even participated in dog shows in the local area from time to time. She had an enormous heart for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas S. Johnson & Wilma “Faye” Johnson of Burleson, Tx, and her brother, Thomas Joel Johnson of Burleson, Tx. Survived by her two daughters, Tamara Laughlin (James), Katherine Ramsel (Liz), and her son, Russell Masey (Jennifer) along with 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grand child, her sister, Karen Wimberly (Charles), and her brother, Lane Johnson (Pam).

A family celebration of Barbara’s life was held on July, 5, 2025.
