Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
William Thomas Sloan, known to friends and loved ones as Tom, Tommy or even Mr. Smiley Face, passed away peacefully surrounded by his two sons on June 30, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 79.
Born on January 23, 1946, in Kirksville, Missouri and grew up in Milan, Missouri, Tom lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and quiet strength. A gifted athlete and proud alumnus of the University of Missouri, he was a standout golfer who competed at the collegiate level and continued to enjoy the game throughout his life.
Professionally, Tom was a trusted accountant and tax preparer, serving clients and friends with care and integrity. He had a sharp mind for numbers and an even sharper sense of humor.
Tom is survived by his wife Krista Sloan, his sons Steven Sloan and Andy Sloan (and wife Shay), his brothers Terrance and Tony and sister Susie. He was a devoted husband and father, and his legacy lives on in the values he instilled.
Tom will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, infectious snicker and heartwarming smile, his envious golf game, the pride and happiness his Mexico condo brought him, his adventurous trips to England, and his just wanting to have a good time around family and friends, he will be deeply missed.
Note of sympathy for each of the family! Didn’t know David, but do know his mother, Carolyn! Feel for all who are sharing his passing! Never easy to lose a family member.

Thinking of you Carolyn!
So thankful I was able to experience Tom. Even in his last days he was a caring comedian that stole my heart. He will be forever missed. My sincerest condolences to Steven, Andy and the family.
I have spent the last year with Tom. I knew it wasn’t true but we had all kinds of plans to gas up the car and hit the road. I will truly miss him and I am finding myself to have a feeling of being lost on Thursday nights without him. Having a cold one (soda) sitting on the couch watching a ball game, I thank you Tom for the joy you brought all of us.
