Susan “Sue” King

Susan “Sue” Ann King, age 71, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow the service, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor her legacy.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Jay Coffer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Dave; her two children, Brandon and Brianna (Dan); and her beloved grandchildren, Kinzley (10) and Charlee (7), who knew her best as “Nini.”

Known by many names—Susie, Queensusie, Mamacita, Booboo, Mama, and Ma—Sue embraced each role with love, laughter, and loyalty. But of all her names, “Nini” was her most treasured.

Sue’s career included time with the Kansas City Chiefs, where she built lasting friendships and deepened her passion as a lifelong Chiefs fan. Her loyalty and warmth were hallmarks of who she was, if you were a friend of Sue’s, you had a friend for life. Many of her closest friendships began more than 40 years ago and remained steadfast until her passing.

Her greatest joys came from life’s simple pleasures: cheering on the Chiefs beside Dave, gathering monthly with her “Moms and Tots” friends (an organization she co-founded in 1982), long conversations with her best friends of over three decades, and above all, cherishing every moment spent with her precious granddaughters, Kinzley and Charlee.

Sue’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

To Sue’s family: I know your precious wife, mother, and Nini leaves a big hole because she had such a big heart. She captured mine in Junior High when we were on the cheerleading squad together. She was always smiling, laughing, and sharing whatever she had with you. Sue is unforgettable and will be missed! Praying for God to comfort you all in these hard days ahead.
