Kristen Ashley Foster

Kristen Ashley Foster, 27, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2025. Her family grieves a loss that feels insurmountable, remembering a young woman with a kind and fiercely protective heart, brilliant mind, and a sense of humor that could melt the hardest of characters.

Kristen was born in Onslow County, NC at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital on November 3, 1998. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2020 and began teaching English at Southeast High School in Kansas City. She loved to read and had a room in her home that was dedicated to the hundreds of books she owned and a quiet place for her to read those books.

Kristen was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard DJ Costello; her grandmother, Frances M Foster; her aunt, Amy L Foster and cousins Damon Flores and Britney Foster.

She is survived by her parents, Mark E and Kristi A Foster of Shreveport, LA; her partner in life, Drew Fatout and the Waltonen family (Jason, Niki, and Harry) of Blue Springs, MO; her brother, Jesse V Crook of Shreveport, LA; her sister, Maggie F (Hazuki) Goya of Okinawa, Japan; her sister-in-law Mary Ann Crook of Shreveport, LA; her grandfather, Fred L Foster of Shreveport, LA; her grandmother, Jean Costello of Gulf Breeze, FL; her grandmother, Vernette Champion of Grand Junction, CO; her aunts, Kim A VanPelt and Kelly A Hicks of Gulf Breeze, FL; her uncle, Terry Hicks of Gulf Breeze, FL and many cousins who loved her dearly.

For those wishing to honor Kristen’s memory, read a book about something you currently know nothing about, listen to others’ opinions, have an open mind, and most importantly, be kind.

Kristen’s life was far too short, but she leaves behind love, memories, and the quiet legacy of a soul who cared deeply for others. Blessed are those of us whose lives she touched in this world.
