Melanie Ruth Holdcroft

Melanie Ruth (Froman) Holdcroft passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. She was born October 27, 1950 to Howard Ray and Odessa Dee (Flowers) Froman in Birmingham, Alabama. She joined her twin brothers (Lionel and Darryl) to complete their family.

She graduated from Banks High School in 1969 and married that same summer. As a military wife she moved around a bit in her youth, living in Gaeta Italy; Norfolk, Virginia, and Atlanta Georgia before settling back in Birmingham to raise their young family.

She went to college after having children earning an Associates in Applied Science, Accounting from Jefferson State Junior College where she was on the President’s list and in the American Junior College Who’s Who. From there she went on to earn a Bachelors of Science, Accounting from University of Alabama at Birmingham where she was on the President’s list and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She worked as a Certified Public Accountant until her retirement. She was registered as a CPA in Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Kansas. She was affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountant. She was blessed with many wonderful years in accounting across the states she was registered.

She volunteered her time as the treasurer of the Singles of the Nativity. She enjoyed spending time with her single friends organizing dances and fundraisers. She made many lifelong friends with members.

In her retirement she enjoyed traveling around the world with friends from the singles group and her “brother” Kenneth Greer. She went to Akumal, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Boston, a costal tour from Seattle to San Francisco, Washington DC, Panama, France, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Monaco, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, and Holland. She took cruises in the Caribbean, mediterranean, and Europe. She was proud to show her magnet collection from all of her travels and share stories from her experiences.

She was preceded in death by her brother Lionel Clay Froman along with her parents Howard Ray and Odessa Dee Froman.

She is survived by her children; Daniel (Holly) Holdcroft of Blue Springs, Missouri and Amanda (Jon) Brown of Grain Valley, Missouri.

Grandchildren; Morgan Brown, Alia Brown, Colton Brown, Kylie (Telio) de Castro, Sadie Holdcroft, Shelbie Holdcroft.

Great Grandson; Zion de Castro.

Though Alzheimer’s took her mind away long before Jesus called her home, her family was the one thing that meant the most to her. She lived each day to its fullest and had no regrets. Showing up and being there for every event that she possibly could.
