Beverly Beatrix Berndt, passed away on the morning of Thursday July 17th, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born to Lois Norseen Berndt and Garfield William Berndt on February 4th, 1961 in Fremont, Nebraska, the youngest of seven children.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, a niece, and her sister Barbara Beauchamp of Topeka, KS.
She is survived by: her 2 children Zendrix T. Berndt and Tschzyl B. (Antonio) Berndt; her 2 grandchildren; her siblings Beatrice “Smoky” B. Brailey of Johnson, NE; Garfield “Buck” W. (Lucy) Berndt Jr. of Geelong, Australia; Michael “Mike” D. (Andrea) Berndt of Hendersonville, NC; James “Jim” A. (Elaine) Berndt of Goose Creek, SC; Betty L (Randall) Stoltz of Rochester, MN; and her nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Beverly was a tenacious go-getter, who was known for her passion, joyful energy, flair for the dramatic, and ability to relate to people from any walk of life. She dedicated her life to enriching the lives of those around her everywhere she went. This includes a career spanning three decades as an educator, having taught science classes for 25 years in the Kansas City Missouri Public School system. Graduated in Spring of 1985 from Southwest Missouri State University (current MSU) with a Bachelors of Science in Geography with Minors in Geology and Anthropology. Beverly previously lived and spent time in Fremont, NE; Sturgis/ Ft. Meade, SD; Ottumwa, IA; Shenandoah, IA; Kettering/Dayton, OH; Helena, MT – graduating from Capital Highschool in 1979; West Plains/Peace Valley, MO; Springfield, MO; and Kansas City, MO which she called home until her death.
Beverly’s many hobbies and interests included: photography, puzzles, swimming, meteorology, geology, animal care, video games, dancing, singing, pinball, trading cards, writing, sketching, crafting, wood and metal working, German, archaeology, target shooting, among many others. Beverly was a strong, sharp, and driven teacher, mother, fighter, protector, and provider to all those she knew and loved. She was a believer in a Higher Power and the forces and cycles of nature as well as the great mysteries that interconnect all of us. She believed in the power of an open mind, but more than that, she believed in the power of an open heart. All who knew Beverly knew she was a powerful force whose impacts on her family, friends, colleagues, students, and the countless communities she participated in will be everlasting.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Riverview event space, 804 Woodswether Rd, Kansas City, MO 64105
