Lois Jean (Green) Postlethwait

Our beloved Mother Lois Jean (Green) Postlethwait (92) of Sibley, MO passed away March 24th, 2026 surrounded by love with her children at her side.

She was born August 12th, 1933 to Ralph and Matilda Green in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Detroit Denby High School and also attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA.

Lois’ 3 great loves were 1st and foremost her Lord and the church, her family, and music. All 3 beautifully intertwined throughout her life. She started out as a church secretary.  She was married to William H Postlethwait for 25 years of Wellsburg, WV who also served and dedicated his life to the church, and they had 5 children together. Lois loved music and could often be found playing the piano and organ for services and weddings. She loved singing in the choir and served as Music and Choir Director, Sunday School teacher, and sewing quilts for cradle roll. Lois wore many hats including Secretary, Home Healthcare, Real Estate Agent, Nutritionist, Piano Teacher, Skylark and Scout leader and loved sewing, gardening, and in her earlier years roller and ice skating.

Lois is survived by her 5 children: Raymond (Mary) Postlethwait of Sibley, MO; Donna Postlethwait-Alcorn (and former spouse Charles) of Independence, MO, Darryl (Lisa) Postlethwait of Buckner, MO, Diane Postlethwait (and former spouse Stephen Scudder) of Independence, MO, and Glen (Dana) Postlethwait of Grain Valley, MO all brought up in love, the Lord, and many music lessons which turned into music appreciation. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Amber, Christopher, Bryon, Caleb, Eli, Jacob, Daniel, Molly, Noelle, Cody and Amanda; as well as 14 great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Alyssa, Roy, Lilli, Dax, Luci, Elle, Raika, Olivia, Lena, Sienna, Etta, Crawford and Riften as well as many nieces and nephews

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Matilda Green, her former spouse William, and her beloved sisters Muriel Heatlie and Betty Bloom.

A memorial service is planned for later this Spring.

    She was such a dear lady and we enjoyed knowing her. I remember fondly our time together at the Plymouth Congregation.

    I remember as a young boy, I would walk to the Stake Office and Lois was always there. She was always kind and pleasant with a smile. I would visit with her then go see the stake president and my youth leader Dale Jones.

    She always made my visits a pleasant time I will always cherish those fond memories of her.
