Sheri Lyn Vaughan

Sheri Lyn Vaughan, 63, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at North Kansas City Hospital on May 11, 2026.

Born on January 11, 1963, in Independence, Missouri, Sheri lived a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her kind heart, artistic spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Sheri had a passion for making crafts and expressing herself through art. Her creativity touched every part of her life, and she loved sharing her talents with those around her. Whether she was creating something by hand or spending time with family, Sheri had a way of making people feel loved and welcome.

She also spent many years working as a bartender at the VFW and Sterling Bowl, where she became more than just a familiar face—she became family to many. Sheri was loved by coworkers, customers, and friends alike for her warm personality, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone feel at home.

Sheri was preceded in death by her sister Sheli Lou, mother, Sharon Eshleman, and her father, Bob Eshleman.

Sheri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Vaughan; her daughter, Cassie Phillips, and her husband, James Phillips, along with their children, Trinity, Kaiden, and Maycee; her son, Dustin Johns, and his children, Piper and Liam; Bruce’s children, Steven, Tori, and Jessica; her brothers, Bruce Cave and Brent Eshleman; and her sister, Sheril Pemberton.

Her children brought her the greatest pride and joy in her life, and nothing meant more to Sheri than her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren, who filled her life with happiness and love. Sheri also loved the beach and found peace and comfort near the ocean. One of her favorite things was collecting seashells along the shore, something that reflected her appreciation for life’s simple beauty and peaceful moments. In honoring her wishes, her ashes will be spread at the beach she loved so dearly.

Above all, Sheri loved taking care of people. Her nurturing spirit, compassion, and willingness to help others made her a source of comfort and support to many throughout her life.

Services will be held at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society in Raytown, Missouri, on May 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to celebrate Sheri’s life and memory. The family invites guests to dress casually and comfortably, as Sheri would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homes For Our Troops.

Sheri’s warmth, strength, creativity, and compassion will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.

She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

Such shocking news to hear of Sheri’s passing. She was truly one of the sweetest people and one of the best bartenders ever. Sheri was the true queen of the Verona Room and always made Sunday bowling extra fun. She made a lasting impact on everyone at Sterling Bowl and will be deeply missed by so many. Keeping her family and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
