Annette Rouleau

Annette Rouleau, 77 of Lawrence, KS passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026. Born on June 24, 1948, in Norton, KS Annette was the daughter of Dora Dean Hill and Vernon Hill, who preceded her in death.

Annette is survived by her sisters, Pat Hippen and Kathy Lukasik, and her brother, Tom (Sharon) Hill. She was a beloved aunt to Cindy Carreno, Peggy Tice, Jim Tice, Jeff Tice, Megan Hill, Zach Hill, Jill Lukasik, and Marty Lukasik, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Annette attended Logan High School and graduated in 1966. After graduation she moved to Topeka, KS to attend Washburn University and Kansas University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in education.

Education and service were central to Annette’s life. She began her career as a junior high school teacher before realizing that was not for her. She was married from 1969-1980 and lived in Ruidoso, New Mexico from 1974-1980 at which time she returned to Topeka. She returned to school to earn her master’s degree from Kansas University in social work. There she discovered her true calling, dedicating herself to helping others as a social worker. She dedicated herself to helping others working at KU Medical Center and also working with at-risk women and teens before finishing her career at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center where she retired in 2015, serving with compassion and commitment.

Music brought Annette great joy. She was a proud member of the Topeka Sweet Adelines and most recently sang with the Kansas City Chorus. Through these organizations, she formed lasting friendships.

Annette was a cat lover and had many beloved cats throughout her life. She was also a proud supporter of her Alma mater. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!

She will be laid to rest in Logan, KS alongside her grandmother as she requested.

A celebration of Annette’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched throughout her career, community, and family.
