Cheryl Lynn Gravitt

Cheryl Lynn Gravitt was a woman with a free spirit, a strong heart, and a faith that carried her through life. She lived life on her own terms and believed that everyone deserved the freedom to be exactly who God created them to be. She will be remembered for her individuality, her openness, and her willingness to accept others without judgment.

Cheryl was a proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and believed deeply in loving and accepting people for who they were. Her faith taught her that love, compassion, and kindness should be extended to everyone, and she wasn’t afraid to stand beside those who needed acceptance and understanding.

Cheryl was the loving mother of Dusty Joe Gandy and Christopher Scott Gravitt and his spouse, Amy Gravitt, and the loving grandmother of her grandson, Mason Lee Gravitt.

She is also survived by her siblings, Sherri Lynn Hutton, Letha Gail Edwards, Tony Gravitt and his spouse, Tia Graham, Mark Leon Gravitt and his spouse, Sharon Clary, and Christopher Lee Gravitt and his spouse, Tasha Gravitt, as well as Debbie Hess and Georgeann Johnson; her nieces and nephews; extended family, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched along the way.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Gravitt, her mother, Barba Jean, her father, George Gravitt, and her grandmother, Geneva Fletcher.

Cheryl’s journey through life was uniquely her own. Her story was filled with joys and hardships, victories and struggles, but through it all she remained a free spirit. She believed in something greater than this life and held onto her faith through the different seasons she encountered.

Those who knew Cheryl will remember the personality that made her unmistakably herself—the laughter, the conversations, the stories, and the moments that become even more precious after someone we love is gone.

Cheryl’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the courage with which she remained true to herself. Her children, their spouses, grandson, future grandchildren, family, and friends can carry her memory forward by embracing others with the same compassion, acceptance, and open heart she shared throughout her life.

Though her absence leaves a deep emptiness, her family can find comfort in knowing that Cheryl’s struggles are over and that she is now at peace. May their cherished memories, enduring faith, and the love she gave them sustain them in the days ahead.

Love people. Accept people. Keep your faith. And never be afraid to be yourself.

Rest peacefully, Cheryl. May you walk with God, reunited with those you have missed, your burdens laid down, your battle over, and your spirit finally and completely free.
