Charles (Chuck) A. Rowden passed away on August 27, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1939, to Georgianna Burris (Homer R.) and Raydell Powell Sr.(Lucille), who both preceded him in death.
Charles was born in Fayette, Missouri and later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. Charles was a proud veteran. He served in the Marines from 1958-1961.
His working career mainly consisted in the transportation field. He drove for the city transit as well as school buses. Throughout his career in school bus transportation, he not only drove but was on the safety team, a trainer, and before retiring from First Student he was a bus monitor.
Charles was an avid pool player and a top notch domino player. If you played dominoes with him, you’d better be good because he knew what bones everyone had in their hands.
He was very social and comical. He loved to make others laugh with his quick witted jokes.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Katherine M. Rowden; bonus son, Mark Wise; and siblings Oma Cahill (Dewitt), Deborah Powell, and Raydell (Skippy) Powell, Jr.
He is survived by his children Peter Rowden, Jeff Rowden (Angela), Bridgett Davis (Jaime), Georgina “Gina” Rowden-Hawkins (James), Tara Grear (Edward) and bonus son Clifford Lemay (Juanita); siblings, Linda Battles (David), Rhonda Matthews (Kenneth), Alicia Williams and Edgar Powell, as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and special neighbors.
Charles was loved and will be dearly missed.
