It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine McConnell, who passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 92 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Geraldine, known to many as Gerri, was born on August 14, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas to William McKinley “Kent” and Rushia (Rader) McConnell. After spending her life caring for her mother, Gerri spent her life caring for her beloved nieces and nephews and eventually, her great nieces and nephews.
Gerri graduated from Wyandotte High School and went on to be a secretary for JF Pritchard Engineering until she retired. She found great joy in watching and supporting her favorite sports teams – the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals and the KU Jayhawks.
Above all, Gerri cherished her family. Though she did not have any children of her own, she was a loving and present Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt. She will be remembered for her funny antics, her joy of being with family and her appreciation for good food.
Gerri is survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kent and Rushia McConnell; her brother Roy McConnell; and her sisters Florine Campos, Hazel Colacion, and Mary Woodson.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 1:30pm at Maple Hill Cemetery, 2301 S. 34th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66106.
