Lori Jeanne Davis, 71, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away on October 31, 2026.
Lori was born on January 14, 1955, in Smithville, Missouri, to Evelyn and Newton Jones. She grew up in North Kansas City and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1973 with National Honors. In 1976, she earned her Registered Nursing degree from Research College of Nursing, graduating first in her class of 125.
Lori dedicated 40 years of her life to nursing. During her career, she continued her education at Park College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Management and graduating Summa Cum Laude. She especially enjoyed working in emergency medicine, serving for many years as an ER nurse and Head Nurse. She also shared her knowledge as a nursing instructor and received numerous commendations throughout her career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Emergency Nurses Association. In the later years of her career, Lori managed the Trauma Department at North Kansas City Hospital. She retired in 2017, leaving behind a lasting legacy of dedication and compassion.
Outside of her career, Lori deeply cherished her family, friends, and dogs throughout the years. She especially loved her lake house, where she enjoyed activities, music, dancing, and simply having fun with the people she loved. In 2018, Lori was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment, which later progressed as part of Alzheimer’s disease.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Newton Jones.
She is survived by her life partner, Doug; her son, Jamie; daughter-in-law, Candace; grandson, Jace; her beloved dog, Molly; sisters, Mary Ellen and Cheryl; along with a large extended family and many dear friends who will cherish her memory.
In keeping with Lori’s wishes, a simple cremation will take place, with a Celebration of Life to be arranged at a later date.
My heart goes out to Doug, Jamie and the entire family during this time of loss. Lori was a very special woman and she will be missed greatly.
Lori was an amazing trauma nurse, an exemplary leader and educator and a wonderful friend to all. I had the privilege of working with her at NKCH. Lori was the epitome of professionalism and integrity, always eager to assist with our nursing orientation and the nurse residency programs. My sincerest condolences to Doug and her immediate family; Lori’s sister, and my friend and former coworker/retired nurse Mary Ellen, and the entire family. We have lost a true gem. Like always, fly high Lori.
Missing my fiery little friend and thinking about all the lives she touched over the years. I feel lucky to have been one of them.
