Layton “Red” S. Maxey

Layton (Red) S. Maxey, 86, Raytown, MO, passed away June 1, 2004. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, 6429 Blue Ridge Blvd. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Layton was born February 21, 1918, in Quapaw, OK, raised in Emporia, KS, and moved to Kansas City in 1936. He lived in Raytown since 1967. Layton was a retired plumber. He loved gardening and was always a wonderful helpmate. He was a faithful member of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church. His brother, Vince Maxey, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mazie; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lona Maxey and granddaughter, Eastin Maxey, all of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Eileen Taylor, Emporia, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
