Phyllis Ruth Schutte, 54, died of ovarian cancer at the Hidden Lake Care Center, Raytown, MO. She was born July 7, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Ralph O. & Elisabeth Goebel Schutte. Her father and a greatnephew, Orion Becker-Schutte, precede Pyhllis in death. She is survived by her mother, Lola, and brother, James R. Schutte & wife Kathie of Raytown, three nephews, Christopher J. Schutte & wife Kellie (Logan and Lindsey), Liberty, Joshua J. BeckerSchutte & wife Ann (Cecilia) of Raymore and Andrew J. Schutte, aunt Grace Brandt and family of Concordia, MO, and uncle Wallace Schutte and family of Kirksville, MO. She is also survived by many loyal friends, both two-and four-legged. Phyllis graduated from Raytown South High School in 1969 and Central Missouri State University in 1974 where she majored in Clothing & Textiles and minored in Business. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2003 after working with many good people and wonderful friends for 25 years. She will be deeply missed by all those she left behind. She was a lover of books and dogs. She was preceded in death by her four-legged friends Ginger, Rusty, Banjo, Sassy, Samantha, Tallulah, Olyvia, and Coffee. She is survived by Bud, Minnie, Maggi Moo, Captain, Roger, and Maggie. Cremation under the direction of Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, Raytown, MO. A private celebration of Phyllis’ life will follow at a later date. Phyllis requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Cancer Action, Ovarian Cancer Assn., a library of your choice or any no-kill dog shelter. The family would like to thank special friends Vickie, Nancy, Sandy, Kathy and Henrietta, the staff at Hidden Lake Care Center, and especially the staff of Dr. Verda Hunter for all their care and compassion. Please help with the fight to eliminate ovarian cancer. The one wish Phyllis had for you is to follow your dreams as soon as you can. Just because you think you have the time, doesn’t mean you do.
