Jack Watson

Jack F. Watson, Sr., Mission, KS passed away October 6, 2007 at Menorah Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Poteau, OK and lived there until he joined the United States Army Air Corp in the summer of 1941. He flew with the 9th Air Force, 364th Bomb Group, 554th Squadron in the European Theater of Operations. He flew 68 missions until he was shot down on June 22, 1944. He achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two oak clusters and the Purple Heart. He was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1978. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman his whole life. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Judy, son Jimmy and daughter Suzy. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pat of the home; sons and their spouses, Jack (Kathe), Roeland Park, KS; and Bill (Beth), Overland Park, KS; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister Mary Beth Audsley (Glenn), Lexington, MO; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Menorah Hospital for its excellent care and kindness during his stay at Menorah. Cremation with no services at Jack’s request.
