Grace W. Marshall, 83, formerly of Cascade, Iowa, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Kansas City, Missouri, where she has resided for the last five years. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at Cascade Community Presbyterian Church in Cascade, Iowa, Saturday April 5.
Grace was born October 27, 1924, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Charles M. and Wihelmina (Hanser) Hawkins. She graduated from East Cascade High School. She attended Business College and was employed by B & G Automotive in Dubuque where she lived many years before returning to Cascade.
She was a devoted mother to her three children. She is survived by her daughter Linda Orear and husband Barry of Kansas City, Missouri, her son Derril Marshall and wife Carol of Fremont, Nebraska, and her daughter Karen Reisner and husband Dennis of Fountain, Minnesota. Grace leaves behind four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings, her brother Edgar Hawkins, sister Birdena Ganfield and her brother Robert Hawkins all of Cascade.
I have known Grace my entire life. Grace was 10 years my senior and the very day that I can remember seeing her, was sure she would play an important roll in my and she did.
My twin brother, Martin Pearson and I would play with Grace from day one and we were always thrilled to be with her as she rovided for us a real feeling of love and security in the country surroundings in a very happy environment in Iowa.
The last time we spoke together Grace expressed her joy and feelings for the families, Hawkins Ganfields, Aitchison, etc. yes and the Pearsons.
In our adult lives Grace experienced some wonderful times ahving three wonderful children and their children, Linda, Karen and Darell.
Ishall not forget this precious lady I called Grace: such an appropiate anme she had.
Please accept my deepest condolences and heartfelt wishes and prayers to her families and loved ones.
It was a rare ond wonderful time in my life to be with her and have that unbelievable fun we all had with her. May God allow me some day to meet Grace in that Heaven we call and spend the rest of eternity withher and all our friends who have gone on before.
