Una Zimmerman




Una Irene Zimmerman, 91, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove, Missouri.  Una was born September 7, 1916 in Danvers, Illinois to Elmer Walter Otto and Minnie Cynthia Wilson Otto.  On August 10, 1947 Una married Frederick Henry Zimmerman, who preceded her in death on February 23, 1988.  Una is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Dennis Ficken of Wooldridge, Missouri, granddaughter Amy Ficken of Boonville, Missouri, great granddaughter Brenna Rae Ficken, brother Bert Otto and wife Jeanette of Yakima, Washington, sister Francis Jean Lenox of Middleburg, Florida, and sisters-in-law Ruth Otto and Joanne Rettke of Bloomington, Illinois, and Irene Zimmerman of Chillicothe, Illinois along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers Glenn, Wayne, Clyde, Howard, and Lloyd, and sister Viola Geisel. During her lifetime, Una loved playing baseball, working outdoors, and was an avid trick-horseback rider.  While working for Caterpillar Tractor Company, she met and married Fred.  They resided in Chillicothe where Una worked for the Box Manufacturing Company, Fewin’s Grocery and Scott’s Market. She, Fred and Sandy enjoyed camping and made many friends over the years, including Fran and Ed Jacobs of Moline, Illinois. After Fred’s death, Una moved to Wooldridge to be close to her daughter and family. Here she leaves good friend, Mildred Pifer.  Una’s body was cremated, and her ashes will be buried with a graveside service in Chillicothe Cemetery on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 130pm with Reverend Ted Mitchell presiding.  Friends and relatives may gather with the family at Grecian Gardens Restaurant after 11 am Sunday.
