Ruby Bliven

Ruby D. Bliven, 93, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully July 24 2008. Ruby was born December 10, 1914 in Lynn County, Iowa, She was preceded in death by parents Stephen Lemuel and Violet Delilah Wright, Palo, Iowa; loving husbands Cyrus Merl Cumberland, Urbana, Iowa, Ben O. Thompson, Jesup, Iowa, Cecil B. Bliven, Raymore, Missouri; stepsons Minard D. Thompson and Eddy Thompson, Jesup, Iowa; son-in-law Robert E. Oster, Gladstone, Missouri; brothers Orville O. Wright, Cedar Rapids, IA and Gilbert L. Wright, Prescott, AZ.

Ruby married Cecil B. Bliven of Raymore, Missouri on November 15, 1975. She has now gone home to be with her heavenly father and loved ones. The twinkle in her eyes, her kind, loving ways will always be missed by her children; Carol C. Oster, Verl K. Cumberland and wife Coleen, and Iola K. Krause; step-children; Jack D. Bliven and wife Marsha, Judy L. White; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and friends who cherish her memory.

She was a member of the Raymore, Missouri Christian Church and past member of Urbana Iowa Christian Church, a loving wife, mother and successful businesswoman. She loved to cook, sew, playcards and bingo, dance, travel, fish and entertain friends in her home. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held 1 PM, August 1, 2008 at Brookdale Foxwood Living Center’s Melcher Lounge, 1500 W. Foxwood Dr, Raymore, MO. And 2 PM, August 2, 2008 at the Urbana Christian Church, 108 SE Jefferson Street, Urbana, IA. Interment will follow the memorial service at the Urbana Memorial Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa. She will be laid to rest next to her first two husbands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Urbana Christian Church or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
