Charley Jones

Charles Martin Jones was born February 17, 1949.  He died December 11, 2008 at KC Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

Charley lived his life in the Armourdale, Argentine, and Turner areas of Kansas City, Kansas.

He was a retiree of the Ford Motor Company.  He had worked at Ford’s Parts and Service Division in Lenexa, Kansas where he served as a UAW committeeman for Local 249.

Charley was a lifetime member of the Wyandotte COunty Historical Society and Museum.  He was an avid reader, wrote many poems and short stories and collected Mr. Potato Head memorabilia and the art of Ernst Ulmer.

He loved his family, friends, old cars and dogs.  Being a conversationalist, Charley also enjoyed his time on the phone with everyone he knew and his message machine was a source of entertainment for all who called him.

Survivors include one brother, Ted Jones of Coffeeville, Kansas; two sisters, Sally Miller of Olathe, Kansas and Louise Crable of Kansas City, Kansas; three nephews, martin Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Brian Miller of Olather, Kansas and Danny Miller of Gardner, Kansas; two nieces, Rebecca Hill of Greensboro, North Carolina and Marcie Higby of Miami, Oklahoma.

Charley also leaves behind a multitude of friends, acquaintances, family members, extended family members and three ex-wives (and their current husbands) who were kept close in his circle.

A celebration of the life of Charley Jones and the scattering of his ashes will be planned for Spring 2009.
