Elsie Proulx

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Elsie May Proulx (Palensky), 79, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away January 22, 2010 at Valley View Assisted Living at John Knox Village.  Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at John Knox Village Chapel, 400 NW Murray, Lee’s Summit, MO.  Graveside services will be held at a later date in Clarks, Nebraska.  Mrs. Proulx was born November 2, 1930 in Clarks, NE.                                                                                       

After graduation from high school, Elsie went to work at Lincoln Manor Hotel, where she first met Robert Proulx.  She moved to Omaha to work at JC Penney’s as the cashier in the cafe. She became re-acquainted with Robert Proulx and they were married June 26,1953 at Boys Town, NE. To this union two children were born: Lauri and Robert, Jr.  Elsie also raised her stepdaughter, Barbara. Elsie and Bob owned and managed the G.I. Steak House in Emporia, KS for several years before moving to Ottawa, KS in the early 60’s.  Elsie worked as office manager at the COF Training Services from 1971 to 2000.  Elsie moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO in 2003.

                       

She was preceded in death by: Parents, May and John Palensky, husband, Robert W. Proulx Sr., stepdaughter, Barbara A. Wolters, two brothers, Raymond John and Edward Palensky.

 

Survivors include: Daughter and son-in-law, Lauri M Proulx and David L Woods, son and partner, Robert W. Proulx Jr. and Susan Wolber, step-granddaughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Dale Heron, step grandchildren, Kayla and Zachary, sister, June Abbott and sister and brother-in-law Alice Kilham-VerSteeg and Monty VerSteeg and seven nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial contributions: In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions to the animal shelter of your choice.

    Elsie is at peace. I truly loved her so very much and she knows this. She was a wonderful lady, boss and friend. My prayers are with her family at this time. Nancy
