KAREN ANNE HART

Karen Anne Hart, 64, Raytown, MO, passed away from breast cancer on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Kansas City Baptist Temple, 5460 Blue Ridge Cut-Off, Kansas City, MO 64133, with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow in Brooking Cemetery.

Karen was born on October 2, 1946, in Canton, Illinois, to Fred C. and Leona M. (Owens) Krider. She graduated from Cuba High School in 1964 and from Western Illinois University in 1973, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In 2002, she obtained her Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri –Kansas City. Karen was born and raised in Cuba, Illinois and had resided in Raytown, MO since 1991. Karen taught elementary school for nearly 30 years and retired from Laurel Hills Elementary School, Raytown, Missouri, in 2008. After retirement, Karen enjoyed volunteering with the Carousel program through Kansas City Hospice, as well as working at Mid-Continent Public Library-Raytown Branch, visiting the farm in Illinois on which she was raised, reading her Bible, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mark Krider, and son, Tyler Lee Hart. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Donald E. Hart, daughters Kara K. (John) Cochrane, and Kathy Krider Hart (John) Weaver, grandsons Jared Suydam, Wesley Suydam, Jesse Suydam, granddaughter Abby Cochrane and brother, Neale W. Krider.
