Paul D. Dieckman

Paul David Dieckman, Sr. passed away peacefully in his residence at Heartland Assisted Living in Shawnee, KS on December 29, 2011. He was 86 years old born February 21, 1924 in Tamalco Ill. to John and Ella (Whitford) Dieckman. He was preceded in death by his brother Don and Sister Irma Mikson, his first wife Mary (Jones) and second wife Phyllis (Minter). He is survived by his sons Forrest (Shirley) and Paul David, Jr., daughters Sandra Tuman and Melissa (Ben) Allyn, step-son Mike (Cindy) Minter, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was a decorated World War II army veteran who served in the Philippines. Paul worked for the Dr. Scholl’s company for more than 17 years. After working for Dr. Scholl, Paul opened his own business “The Foot Care & Comfort Center” in Shawnee Mission, KS which he ran for 15 years. His specialty was making arch supports which helped hundreds of his customers walk more comfortably. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Shawnee Heartland Assisted Living, 16207 Midland Dr., Shawnee, KS. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Carlyle, Ill Cemetery, arrangements made by Zieren Day Funeral Home of Carlyle. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Paul’s name to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
