Frank “Rusty” Woodbury

Frank “Rusty” Huntington Woodbury IV, 67, of Shawnee, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Debbie by his side, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Frank was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 15, 1944, to Mary Ruth (Leekley) Woodbury and Frank Huntington Woodbury III. Frank grew up in Prairie Village, Kan., graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1962, and Kansas City Kansas Community College. Frank followed in his grandfather Woodbury’s footsteps and went into the banking business. He retired as branch manager of Mission Bank in 2007. Frank served on the Shawnee Planning Commission, and was active with the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Golf Committee, chaired the Ambassador Committee, and served on the Board of Directors during 2005-2006. Frank received the Ambassador of the Year Award in 2003. Through the Chamber, Frank was also involved with the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Frank was active with the Shawnee Lions Club, and twice served as chairman. Rusty’s passion for motorcycles, cars, and the open road led to his and Debbie’s discovery of their magical retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ruth (Leekley) Woodbury and Frank Huntington Woodbury III. Frank is survived by his wife, Debbie (Wilson) Woodbury; his brother, Stephen Harlow Woodbury, Bradenton, Fla.; his sister, Catherine Woodbury, New Bremen, Ohio; his daughter, Anne- Marie (Woodbury) Mendenhall, Wichita, Kan.; his three grandchildren, Tanneth, Antonin, and Edward Mendenhall; his uncle, Robert L. Woodbury, Prairie Village, and many cousins. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Heartland Hospice for their kindness, care, and support. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the George Hamilton Combs Memorial Chapel of the Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Frank’s name to Heartland Hospice, 4601 College Blvd., Suite 160, Leawood, KS 66211. Final arrangements handled by Heartland Cremation & Burial Society.
