Esther M. Reed, 93, of Lee’s Summit, Mo made her transition on February 19, 2012 at Lees Summit Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Esther was born on August 15, 1918 of parents Alta M (Green) andJ.C. Reed of Salina, Kansas.
She graduated from Salina High School in 1936.Attended Marymount College in Salina, Ks, graduated 1940 with BS in Chemistry. Received her Medical Technologist training at Kansas City General Hospital 1940-42.Worked as a Medical Tech. & Chief Technologist in several places including K.C. General Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa and Kansas City until her retirement.
She lived in different areas of Kansas City but spent 45 years as a resident of Lake Lotawana where she enjoyed sharing her home and the lake with many guests. She had a talent for making everyone feel so welcome there.Spent her last 11 years as a resident of John Know Village.Her hobbies included boating, swimming, water skiing, traveling and card games like bridge.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers John& Ernest and his wife Virginia as well aslongtime friends Nita Harkins, Fran Lowman & Lorene Shogren.
She was a member of following professional societies: American Society of Medical Technologist, American Society of Clinical Pathologist, Greater Kansas City Chemisty Society and Kansas City Medical Technologists were she served as president.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Reed in Salina,Ks. , her sister-in-law Velma Reed in Lees Summit, Mo, Nephew & nieces – Steve Reed-Washington, Susan Siitari- Finland, Patricia Bechstein-California, Robert Reed-Georgia, Becky Sentgeorge-Japan, John C. Reed-florida, Fredrick Reed-Canada, Nancy Prantl, Independence, Mo & David Reed-Lees Summit, Mo and their spouses, many great- nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
