Salvatore Ottaviano

Salvatore was the last born son of Giorgio and Rosa Ottaviano, who came to America before WWII. Salvatore was born and raised here in Kansas City, Mo. He was the youngest of five children. Sam graduated from Cearns High School in the north end, which was where all the Italian immigrants lived. His father and mother owned the Bellini Theater at 5th and Troost. After graduation Sam became a Marine and was sent overseas to fight for his beloved country. Before he left, he met his future wife, the lovely, graceful, and beautiful Miss Ruby Jean Mashburn, who had only passed away May 4, 2012. Just 10 days after her death, Salvatore, who was very sick, just could not be parted from his beloved wife of 62 years. Salvatore died of abroken heart on May 14, 2012. He could not live another day without Jean. He leaves behind a lovely sister- in-law, several wonderful nieces and nephews, several wonderful great nieces and great nephews, and three great-great nephews, and their cat, Baby, who is now an orphan. Baby is now heart-broken but inherits the house. At least she is not homeless. Salvatore and Jean enjoyed a wonderful life together. They loved to travel, gamble, and buy new cars. They drove all over America, from coast to coast, always stopping to visit family and friends. Las Vegas was an important stop even if it was out of their way. They will be missed by all especially the N.R.A, G.O.P, and the idiot, Rush Limbaugh. Salvatore’s farewell Christian Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow and is for family only.
