Dwight Harold French Jr., 63, Kansas City, Missouri passed away March 12, 2013 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri with his family by his side. Visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Memorial services will follow at 7 PM at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. Military graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Dwight was born January 19, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dwight was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters whom he adored, watching his son play baseball, hitting the golf ball around and watching about any sports on television. Dwight took great pride in his country serving 4 years in the Navy during Vietnam where he’d forged some great friendships. He was without a doubt, one of the most caring, compassionate, friendly persons and his contagious laugh and smile overflowed from any room he was in! Dwight, with his BIG heart, welcomed many into his family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by by: father, Dwight Harold French Sr and his mother , Hazel Inez French. Survivors include: son, Anthony French, daughter-in-law Lindsay French and two granddaughters, Maddison and Brooklyn French. Along with his sister Sandra Sue Fleming, brother David Lee French and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting donations to help cover funeral expenses. (arr. Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 816-313-1677)
Uncle Dwight will be missed so much. He was such a giving and caring person. He was the best uncle a girl could ever have. I LOVE HIM VERY MUCH!!! I always tell people stories of when I was growing up how much fun I had with my Uncle Dwight. These Memories I cherished and will for ever. I am sorry he was taken from us way to soon. Anthony, You have the best dad in the world. You were his sunshine.

We are so sorry for your loss. I wish that I would have had the chance to meet Dwight. From his photos, he looks like such a friendly guy. It sounds like he had a heart of gold and a wonderful laugh. I know that I really would have liked him. So glad that his son is part of our family. We love you, Anthony, Lindsay, Maddison and Brooklyn. Your Dad was loved by many and will never be forgotten. His love will always remain in your hearts and your memories.

Uncle Dwigh life with out you will not be easy.I miss are talks.Thank you for being there for us when we need you. I will never forget all the time we would suntan at grandma’s we talk for ever till the sun go down. I love that I could tell you any thing. Im going To Miss You So Much. You would tell me to stop Crying and smile your be ok.lol I love you.
My uncle Dwight was one of the best men I know. Every time he would come visit me he would bring me a doll and rolos. He was one of the most loving people ever and cherished his family so much. The last thing he said to me was that he loved me so much and he wouldn’t stop crying and hugging me and telling me he loves me. I’ve never had someone show me how much they love me like he did and I wish I had more time with him. I know he’s always looking after me now and he’s always right by myside.
Dwight, You soul is a bright as that amazing smile. You loved not just your family but all of their friends. Many baseball and football games will be just a tad quieter because you won’t be there to help cheer the teams on. We will miss you and our deepest condonlences go to Anthony, Lindsay and the Girls.
Uncle Dwight I miss you. I remember all the football games you would take me to and all the hot chocolate you bought. Then I remember when you would go on your runs and I would want to try to run with you but I just couldn’t keep up. R I P Uncle Dwight you will always be missed. I love you
I still have the doll you gave me for Christmas when I was 8 years old. miss you and love you hope you have many rolos in heaven.
Had the privilege of being supervised by Frenchy in 1993-96 at Dunlop Tire…I was 20 years old and we talked baseball/sports constantly. Had the opportunity to express my condolences to Anthony on the baseball diamond recently. Salute Dwight ??
