Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Mark Chatfield, 52, of Kansas City, MO, went to be with the Lord on February. 20, 2014, surrounded by the love of his wife and family, after his courageous battle with cancer. Mark was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, and a loving son. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Chatfield. He enjoyed Landscaping in the yard with his wife, creating their paradise to share. The love between Mark and his wife, Tammy, was a magical, once in a lifetime kind of love. They were, and forever will be, best friends and soul mates. Words cannot describe just how amazing Mark was; his smile and stunning blue eyes lit the path that he walked. He had such a strong spirit with a courageous heart that reassures his family that Heaven has gained such a truly amazing angel. His strong spirit uplifts the family, knowing that he will be watching. Services are Fri. Feb. 28, 2014 at 5 PM, at The River Church (6400 Woodson Road). In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up, in Mark’s name, to help family, C/o The River Church, (P.O. Box 9333, Raytown, MO 64133).
Love to the family. Mark was a fun, loving man and I am honored to have met him. My heart goes out to his family. The world lost a fantastic person so God could have him. Hugs.
Mark was a gift to the world and his kindness will always be remembered. I know he will continue to watch over his loving family from heaven.
I grew up with Mark, at Loma Vista Baptist Church. He was always such a fun, humorous guy to be around. Being a bit mischievous, he was the perfect “partner” when planning practical jokes. We had so much fun together. Although I had not been in touch with him for many years, his life touched mine in an unforgettable way. His heart was a big as they come, always willing to help out someone in need. I wish I could have seen him one more time before he left us. Thank you, Mark, for your friendship.
I knew Mark and Tammy for many years, Mark was a wonderful man, caring, loved Tammy dearly, I remember him saying that she was the best thing that came into his life, and she always made him smile, they were a great match, he made everyone smile, and he always said my home is your home, he didn’t have any enemy’s, everyone that knew him loved him, even any children that met him for the first time, he will be forever missed.
Mark was a wonderful brother. He was always funny, loving, giving, and in his younger years, he was one of the most popular guys at school. I had a lot of friends because Mark was such a catch.
He and Tammy had a welcoming home, and helped anyone they could. Since my strokes, and being unable to drive, one of them would come and get me so I could spend the weekend with them.
His last days were with Tammy constantly by his side, giving him medication, checking his vitals, giving him baths, attending to his every whim, and reminding him of all the good times if they had together.
They truly were soulmates. I could not have asked for a better sister in law. I will miss Mark greatly, however I rest in the knowledge that he is with Christ, and that he has made his reunion with Mom and our grandparents that have passed before him. Thanks Mark for all the wonderful memories.
You will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. 2/20/2014
My girls, Karla and Kim knew Mark from Loma Vista Baptist Church. I loved his mother, Sue, and grandmother Meta Sue, who was in our Golden-Heirs at church. Sending condolences to the family.
I have been truly blessed to have known Mark! He was like a best friend the moment I met him, very open, honest, and easy to talk to. Being with him in the hospital last week was a gift. I will miss you Mark!
Tammy I was so sad to hear of Marks passing. I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Mark was my cousin. I have many fond memories of him as a child. As adults, we saw very little of each other. However, when we did, he always greeted me with a warm smile and a hug. His bright blue eyes were truly a window into his soul. In recent years, I learned much about his life with Tammy, and all of their boys, through Aunt Sue. I agree with Marci . . . mother and son are now reunited. May we all remember foremost and always the joy he brought into each life that he touched.
I will miss you so much you were such a fun loving man. I will cherish all the great memories you gave to us. We were so blessed to have you in our life.
