“A Proud Man”
What wonderful and happy memories over many years. With Richard you always knew you would have a smile and a great laugh! He was always fun to be with. Kansas City will not be the same with the loss of Richard. Goodbye my dear friend.
I have wonderful memories of the kind way Richard welcomed and encouraged and inspired newcomers in the floral industry. His talent and innovation and energy will be greatly missed.
RICHARD WAS GREAT PERSON TO KNOW, WORK ON MANY THINGS IN KANSAS CITY OVER THE YEARS HE WILL BE MISSED.
Dick was one of the first “personalities” I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with in AIFD. It was in Kansas City. His sense of humor and light heartedness was wonderful. My condolences for this great loss.
Richard’s dedication to AIFD and the industry was an inspiration to many.
He will be missed for his enthusiasm, encouragement, and kindness.
I have such good memories of Richard. He was a wonderful host when I would visit his house. He was very encouraging to me as a show designer when I was first starting out. We were just good friends. I will miss him.
Nedra and I have lost a true and long time friend. To say he will be missed is and understatement. Our sorrow is with you Bob and the family and friends.
I can’t remember NOT knowing Richard. This makes my childhood specially rich, since every child should grow up knowing someone like Richard. Always ready for fun, no matter what age. I love watching him work. The energy is endless. Love him and love Bob. Thinking of ALL of you at this time.
What a wonderful friend! You and Robert hosted us at your home, and we spent time together in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico a few year ago. Richard always had a smile, joke, and good story. He was an inspiration to me in design, commentating, and taught me a how to be a floral auctioneer. I enjoyed our long phone calls and mostly his friendship. I will miss you good friend!
Robert I am so sorry for your loss. Richard was always a bright star when ever we met.
He will be missed by everyone. The “Elizabeth” statue in your garden was mine before he bought her at an AIFD auction. I still have a winter picture of her. that Richard sent.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Farewell my Friend.
Fondly remember a time in Puerto Vallarta with Richard and Robert , plus many AIFD meetings
I will always treasure having known Richard for over 37 years. His sense of humor was contagious, and his whit – amazing- always bringing a smile to those surrounding him. A Floral industry Icon.. will always be remembered
as a most giving friend – asking nothing in return. God Bless you Richard, may you rest

I always think of Richard around this time of year. I was 4 when my parents took me to a Christmas party hosted by Bob and Richard. What a wonderful experience I had anytime I was around him. I searched for him tonight to see if I could find a good excuse to bump shoulders with him so I could let him know how many smiles I have throughout my life that grew from a joy that was created from experiences like Richards laugh, his humor, his joy, his smile, his warmth, his imagination, his world. He was a wonderland in my world.
Thank you for all the smiles Richard. You are loved. My deepest condolences to Bob. I’m sure the adventure the two of you shared was grand?? I pray peace finds you whenever you need it.
