Rita Dianne Sutton of Independence, MO., formerly of Raytown MO, passed away at the age of 70 on February 11, 2017.
Visitation 12-1 PM, funeral service 1 PM, on Wed. February 15, 2017, at Heartland, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo 64133. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
Rita was born in Kansas City, MO February 22, 1946 to Chuck and Dottie Robbins. Her family moved to Raytown when Rita was in the 6th grade. While in the 6th grade she met a young man by the name of Arthur Lynn Sutton. The two of them would finish their school days at Raytown High School, graduating together as high school sweethearts in the spring of 1964. They would continue to date until he proposed marriage and they wed in June of 1968. Two years later they would welcome the first of 4 children, a baby boy, Eddie Lynn Sutton. Then in 1974 they would have the first of 3 baby girls, Michelle Lynn. She would be followed by her sisters Jeneane Ann in 1976, and Lynette Faye in 1978. As she raised her family she held a few different forms of employment, but she considered her job to be motherhood. Her family was her life and where her loyalties laid. She was never happier than when she was with her babies, a feeling and way of life that never changed, no matter how old her babies got. That love was magnified when it came to her grandchildren which number seven in all. Again, the only boy would be born first, Trent Michael Sutton. He would be followed by six more granddaughters, Miranda Lynn Williams, Jolene Marie Dianne Grimsley, Maia Lynn Faye Grimsley, Sylvia Rachel Ann Grimsley, Felicity Anne French and Jaden Elizabeth French. She never beamed with more pride, or spoke with more love than she did when showing pictures and speaking of her grand babies. She loved her family, she loved music, she loved to dance, she just plain loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Eddie Lynn Sutton, and her sister-in-law Darlene Faye Sutton.
She is survived by the love of her life Lynn Sutton of Grain Valley, MO. Her daughters and their significant others, Michelle and Randy Williams of Blue Springs, MO, Jeneane and Mark Grimsley of Olathe, KS and Lynette Sutton and Chad French of Blue Springs, MO. Her grandchildren Trent Sutton and Miranda Williams of Blue Springs, MO, Jolene Grimsley, Maia Grimsley and Sylvia Grimsley of Olathe, KS and Felicity French and Jaden French of Blue Springs, MO. Niece Sheila Nickerson of Kansas City, MO and great nieces Veronica Bennett of Blue Springs, MO and Jessica Bennett of Carpi, Italy. Brother Bill Robbins, of Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation and Give Kids the World Village.
I am so sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. You are such beautiful girls and I know how much you were loved by your Mom and how much you loved her back. Life seems to stop for a moment when we lose those we love so much but then we feel their spirit within us and life takes on new meaning. Please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. Sending my fond regards to you. Laura Cleland
