Margaret (Olive) Harring

Margaret (Olive) Harring, 69, of Independence, Missouri passed away June 2, 2017 at home. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 6:00PM, Friday, June 23, 2017 at Summit Grove Community of Christ, 411 S. Lee’s Summit Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Ms. Harring was born February 25, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Maggie was a Shriner’s Baby in a time where parents weren’t allowed to stay with their children at the hospital. Her parents were extremely diligent with her care and even left the Christmas tree up for months after Christmas so she could come home and celebrate with them. Maggie wasn’t able to walk until she was 9 years old. As a new driver she was the proud owner of a Cougar convertible which she loved. In her 20’s she was an evening switch board operator for Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Her niece, Jean, would wait outside Maggie’s door until she was awake after working her evening shift to see her favorite aunt. Maggie moved to Kansas City, previously of St. Louis, over 30 years ago to live closer to her sister and best friend, Joyce. She soon would meet her significant other, Bob Mosher, who she has known for 3o years, but have been inseparable for the past 12. Maggie never had children of her own, but her nieces and nephews call her grandma. She was an avid lover of crocheting and enjoyed to travel. Throughout her adult life she would frequently say, “the impossible takes just a little longer.” She was determined, kind, caring, and loving. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Ralph and Amy Olive and sister Joyce Dalton.

Survivors include her niece Jean Riley, nephew John Dalton, grandchildren/great nieces/and great nephews; Ronnie, Joy, Monica, and Amanda, great grandchildren; Jersey, Journey, Hannah, Dalton, Malachi, Troy and Riley.
