Gary Wendell Fenton, 79, of Independence, Missouri passed away on September 17, 2019. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM – 12:00PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd Raytown, Missouri. A graveside service will be following the visitation at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville beginning at 1:00pm. Mr. Fenton was born on August 26, 1940 in Carthage, Missouri.
Gary was a highly decorated Airborne Ranger serving 20 years in the United States Army. He served 3.5 tours in Vietnam as a LRP. He was highly revered by all who knew him. He earned 3 purple hearts and many other service awards and medals. His family and friends knew him as a rascal and a warrior until the end. He was a hero to many.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank, mother Hazel and his brother Rex.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine (Carol), his children; Gary (Beth), John (Melissa), and Jeri, step-children; Teresa (Boyd), Robin, Marcus (Kimberly), and Holly (David); sister, Judith Gail Fitzpatrick; and a sea of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Agent Orange Veterans Causes.
I’m so sorry to learn of Gary’s passing. I know his last few months would not have been as he wished but he always had the love of his family. My condolences to all.
So sorry to hear of Gary’s passing…i knew him for many years in Eldon…knew his sons and daughter……Also grandson. Tony…May you Have peace and Blessings..
