Vernon Clark Strutton

Vernon Clark Strutton, age 71, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away May 5th, 2020 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Due to the current gathering restrictions, there will be a private family service on May 8th 2020 and a Celebration of life for Buck, once circumstances permit.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Frugal Thrift Store located at 4804 Noland Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. Phone:  816-478-9200.  Flowers may be sent to Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri.

Vernon, better known as Buck by his friends and family was born March 14th, 1949 in Crocker/Tavern, Missouri.  As a young boy Buck grew up in Iberia.   His family later moved to Kansas City where Buck attended Westport High School. Buck stayed in Kansas City, raised his family and enjoyed the rest of his years.   Buck was the owner of a hauling company “Buck and Sons”.   He enjoyed spending time with his brother and sisters and especially looked forward to their annual birthday meetings where they would all meet at the Jumpin’ Catfish restaurant to celebrate as a family.   He had a keen interest in buying, fixing and selling old cars. He also had quite the collections of classic cars over the years.  Although he was largely a private kind of person, Buck’s kindness and generosity were the characteristics that best described his personality.  He was a shepherd for his family always making sure everyone was okay.  He had a sparkle in his eyes when he smiled.   He will be terribly missed by all that loved him.

He is preceded in death by: his Mother, Lora Strutton and Father, Claude Strutton.   Survivors include: his children; Sheila (& Rick) LaMontagne,  John (& Wendy) Strutton, Jason Strutton and Brandon McGee.  Buck also fulfilled the role of father to Angela (& Billy) Mandeville.   Also, his siblings; Bonnie May , Pete Strutton, Barbara Kates and Donna Harris.  Buck was also blessed with 13 wonderful grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

I am a cousin on Aunt Lora’s side. I am so sorry for you loss. This breaks my heart. He will be missed dearly. He loved to laugh, just like my dad! We have so many fun and crazy childhood memories, when we would get to visit one another. May God give you comfort. Love you all! Brenda

I am so sorry about the loss of Bucky. He always had great stories to share when he’d come by and a sparkle in his eyes. I never heard him raise his voice or have any negative words to say about anyone. He learned early on if he didn’t want my handicap brother, Scott to steal the hat off his head, to bring another hat for Scott to wear. He was one of dad’s favorite nephews/friends. He will be greatly missed by so many; until we meet again in heaven!
Peace, love and prayers to his family! Stacey (Strutton) Young
