Doris Hubbard

On Monday, December 28, 2020, Doris Winkler Laliberte Hubbard, adoring wife and mother of four, peacefully passed away at the age of 72.

Doris was born to George Winkler and Anna Gertrude “Gertie” Meurer Winkler on March 10, 1948 in New York City, NY. She married Donald Laliberte in 1966 and had four daughters: Denise Shelleman (David Hughes partner) of Stilwell, KS; Dawn McLain (Michael Cothrun) of St. George, UT; Dyann Downs (Kevin) of Stilwell, KS; and Dani Morado (Jason) of Olathe, KS. On May 30, 1992, Doris married the love of her life, James “Jim” Hubbard.

Doris always enjoyed dancing and was known to frequently dance the night away. After raising her children, Doris enjoyed traveling with Jim. Her favorite vacation spot was Yellowstone National Park. In 2012, Doris retired from JCPenny after 28 years of service.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, George and Gertie Winkler, her brother George Winkler and nephew Scott Winkler. Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Jim and her sister Diane Howard (Frank) of Crossville, TN. She is also survived by her four daughters, seven grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, three nieces and a nephew.

A celebration of life is being planned for this spring.

    I loved having Doris as my friend and neighbor. She could make me laugh and was spot on with any advise she would give me. So caring a person with a truly unique personality and perspective on life.I’m so very thankful I was able to know her. Rest In Peace beautiful soul.

    Doris was my bonus grandma. I am so glad I was able to be with her for her final moments. She was loved by so many! She knows it too. Now she is resting and pain free. We love you so much Doris!!
