Dorothy Jean Morris, 93, of Bonnots Mill, formerly of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at home with her family at her bedside.
She was born November 8, 1927 to the late Leonard Ernest and Gertrude Cecil (Newman) Carpenter in Sturgeon.
She was united in marriage to Charles Donald “Blackie” Morris, June 29, 1946 in Columbia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, “Blackie;” son, Charlie; parents, Leonard and Gertrude; son-in-law, Bill Gibson; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Maurice Cook; and nephew, Bill Cook.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Donna Gibson of Taos, Sheila Boyer and husband Glenn of Columbia and Kim Verslues of Bonnots Mill; grandchildren, Gene Gibson and wife Becky of Taos, Lori Freie and husband Tim of Columbia, Mindy Skaggs and friend Jamie Kelleher and Kyle Boyer, all of Columbia, Eddie Gibson and friend Teri Blake of Bixby, Randy Boyer and wife Neala of Manhattan, Kansas and Shelby and Shane Verslues of Bonnots Mill; great-grandchildren, Gavin Morris and wife Jess, Tyler Freie, Blaine Skaggs and Shane Boyer, all of Columbia, Brandon Gibson of Moberly, James Gibson of Charleston, Erika McGrath and husband Jake of Harrisburg, Bridget Neel of Salisbury and Riland Boyer of Manhattan, Kansas; great-great-grandson, Bentley Morris of Columbia; niece, Bonnie Isgrig of Ashland, and her animal babies, Half Pint and Gracie.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 10, at the Fountain of Life Church in Jefferson City with Pastor Valerie Fowler officiating.
A private family inurnment will be in Columbia Cemetery next to her husband and son.
