Jeblin (Jeb) M. Godwin

Jeblin (Jeb) Matthew Godwin was born July 4, 1977 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to Terry and Marla Godwin.  He left this life and crossed into eternity to be with his Lord and Savior on April 15, 2021.

At the tender age of 5, Jeb surrendered his life back to his Creator, Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  He attended Lee’s Summit Community Church and Kansas City Worship Center, under the leadership of his father-in-law, Dr. Paul Waters, Sr.

Jeb graduated from Suburban Heights Baptist School in Fairfield, IA in 1995.  In 1997, he graduated from Indian Hills Community College where he earned a degree in Laser Technology.  He then moved to Kansas City, MO., and was employed by Honeywell FM&T for the last ten years.  It was at Honeywell that he would meet his future wife, Mary Ann Waters.  They were united in marriage July 16, 2011.

Jeb loved math, sports, and preparing smoked meats for special occasions or no particular reason at all.  He could be counted on to offer support to the church or to anyone who was in need.  Jeb constantly put the needs of his family before his own, and was known for his witty sense of humor and infectious laugh.  He never met a stranger and everyone he met felt welcomed.

Jeb leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann Godwin, his sons Austin, Landon and daughter Mia.  He is also survived by his parents, Terry and Marla Godwin (Ottumwa, IA), sisters Becca Stockton and KaShelle (Justin) Leffler (Ottumwa, IA),  and Lydia (Jacob) Blumer (Ankeny, IA).  Also are many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of additional friends and family.  All of these people loved and cherished Jeb.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dick and Ethel Godwin (IA), and Don and Beulah Pethke (TN).

Jeb was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and friend.   He will truly be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

A visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Heartland, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri 64133. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm, followed immediately by interment at Brooking Cemetery, in Raytown, Missouri. Jeb,
Words can’t express the way I feel knowing that you have left this earth. You were a good friend, a mentor and just a great human being to know. You took me in as a friend and never judged me. You were always easy took talk to about anything and everything. You made coming into work really great and I’ll never forget the knowledge that you passed down to me. I take it with me forever. My heart goes out to you, Mary Ann, the kids and the rest of your family. Jeb, my friend… you are at eternal peace now. When my time is done, I’ll see you again. R.I.H.

    To Jeb’s family,
Jeb was a good man, father and friend. I always enjoyed talking sports, fantasy football and loved to hear about Landon, Austin and Mia. He was very proud of each of you especially with your early accomplishments and your bright futures. Mary Ann, I will pray for you and all of your family. Words cannot express my deep sorrow, but we must all try to stay positive because we know Jeb is in a better place. I will miss him greatly and never forget him. As BJ noted, “only the good die young” and Jeb definitely fits this category. I’m sure we will all meet again…….

my condolences to the family of jeb. I worked with jeb at Honeywell in the packaging area when he was an inspector. never have I met a more nicer guy them him. he always greeted me in the hallway. he will most assuredly be missed. with my deepest sympathies.

MaryAnn, Landon, Austin, Mia, there are not enough words to describe how much he loved you. You could see it in his eyes and his smile too. Jeb is one of the legends around here at Honeywell. Everybody loved him! Nicest guy you could ever meet, funny, smart and extremely hard working yet somehow he always had time for everyone. I just read this quote in the paper… “The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.” Rabindranath Tagore. He lived every moment and loved greatly. See you soon Jeb but will watch over your peeps in the meantime.

    Dear Jeb,
From the time we worked at Honeywell to the time I left, you had the same character. Steady, witty, helpful, comedic, joyful, impeccable work ethic, a wiz with numbers and statistics especially sports and faithful. Faithful and loving to Mary Ann, Austin, Landon, and Mia. A great husband, father, son, uncle, brother in law, sibling, cousin and friend. Jeb, you will be greatly missed.
To those reading this Jeb and I had a conversation at work one day about heaven. He told me he knew that he would be going to heaven because he had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior when he was a young boy. I’m so happy that Jeb had surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. So what about you? If you were to die today would you know where you would spend eternity?

Jeb, I will miss you beyond measure. Your indomitable spirit, your sense of humor, your warmth, and your smile. My heart aches, and the tears remind me of the void that I now feel. The world’s loss is Heaven’s gain. I just hope that when my journey ends, I am worthy to take up residence in God’s paradise just as you now have. God bless you Jeb, until we meet again, I will carry you in my heart and memories. It was truly a gift to have known you. Mary Ann, Austin, Landon, Mia, and to the entire family, may God strengthen and comfort you in every way. I will keep you in my prayers. With all my love, sympathy, and condolences.

Jeb was a kind, friendly man. It was always a delight to see him and chat a little bit. He and I shared a connection to the state of Wisconsin. Spending time with him, just engaging in polite small talk, was uniquely comforting. He had a way of making every one around him feel at ease. He was such a kind, friendly man. I am grateful for the short period of time in which our live’s paths crossed. I will miss him.

To Jeb’s loving wife, Mary Ann and family,
Jeb was always a hard working man. I would always see him working around the church, but most of all, he loved taking care of his wife and children.
He was always kind. He didn’t talk much, but he always had a smile on his face.
I am so grateful that God allowed me the opportunity to meet him through his wife and call him friend. Jeb, will truly be missed.
