Charles D. Franssens

July 13, 1951 – November 17, 2021

We regretfully announce the death of Charles “Charlie” D. Franssens, who passed away surrounded by his loved ones on November 17, 2021 at the age of 70. Charlie had a difficult battle with heart disease and is finally at rest. He will be forever loved and remembered.

Charlie was born to John and Eula on July 13, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. When he was 18, he met his wife Becky. After two years, they were married and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Charlie served in the United States Navy, worked for GAF, a roofing tile manufacturer, High Life Distributors and retired from Fort Osage school district in 2014 after 24 years of service. He was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church where he successfully held down one of the back rows when health permitted his attendance.

He relished making jokes, harmonizing to the radio, sharing trivia knowledge, and as a dedicated fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams; the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Charlie is preceded in death by his father, John, mother Eula and brothers, Gene and J.D. and is survived by his wife, Becky, son, Shawn (daughter in-law, Catherine), daughter, Jacqulin (son in-law, Mario), grandchildren, Austin, Rhianna, MacKenna and Gabriel; as well as, his brother, Richard (Nancy) and sisters, Sandra (Latif) and Jeannine and their families, including several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wear red or Chiefs gear and join us in a remembrance of life on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Services will be held at North Cross United Methodist Church, 1321 NE Vivian Rd. Kansas City, MO 64118. A visitation will be held from 1pm – 2pm with services following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to North Cross United Methodist Church.
