Ella Bell Lockett

Ella Bell Lockett was born on October 8th 1944 to her loving parents Cadmus and Bertha Lockett of Bessemer Alabama. Ella was the youngest of three sisters. She moved with her family to Chicago and graduated from Parker High School Class of 62. Her first job was with Illinois Bell.

Shortly after the birth of her first child she moved to New York City, where she excelled as an executive secretary for Black Enterprise during her time in New York City her second child was born.

Ella was a rolling stone, after 11 years in NYC she returned to Chicago where she continued her career as an executive secretary at Approved Home for Developmentally Handicapped Adults, all while pursuing her passion for Interior Design. Ella Graduated from Truman College with an AA in Liberal Arts in 1988.

Ella relocated to another city Kansas City, Missouri in 1995. She worked for Probation and Parole, United States Postal Service, and retired from Safety & Health Council-Western Missouri &. Kansas. She was a very giving and helpful lady who committed countless community service hours to Bishop Sullivan Community Center, and other community services. She was a very gracious giver having been a long time contributor to Police and Firemen funds and different ministries across the world.

Ella was a loving lady who was very community service oriented, she was welcoming to people and an all-around pleasant soul. She enjoyed family time, and making sure everyone was okay.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her daughter Carla Powell, her son Anthony Peter Davis Jr, Tammy, Delton, David Grandchildren; Reginald Williams(Lovingly Bug), Dorian Davis, Velice Davis, Christopher Davis, Darrien Davis, Dajah Davis, Anthony Peter Paul Davis III (Baby), Brandon Davis, Ratanie Davis, Loet Davis, Theone Davis, Sencere Davis, Jasalynn Davis, Adore Davis, Solomon Davis, Simeon Davis, Saint Davis, Trinity Davis, Rushia Davis, Saku Davis Great Grandchildren; Shaniyah Camille Renee Williams(ShayShay). Also a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Elishondra, Tanya and a host of friends

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Her First born grandchild Camelli Williams, Her sister Ruth, Nephew Neil, Nieces Renee and Retha Garrett. It also saddens our hearts to announce her sister Christine passed before we were able to complete the Obituary.

My Grams was one of the kindest people I know. Her soul was bright and it was hard for me to ever be in a bad mood around her. She helped me become who I am today and I will forever be grateful. While it’s sad that she’s gone, she’s no longer in pain and I know she will always watch over me.
