On April 19, 2022 Shirley Louise Heflin, age 76 of Oak Grove, Mo was called home peacefully in her sleep. Shirley was born on February 16, 1946 to Ralph Rich and Mary Sprofera in Kansas City, Missouri.
She spent much of her childhood living in Northeast where she was baptized at Holy Cross. When she was 19 she had her Son followed by her twins girls when she was 21. In 1980 she met the love of her life to whom she spent the rest of her days with. She spent much of her life working at Michael’s Arts and crafts until her store closed, then she devoted her time to her 7 grandkids. She was the “Dolly” that made sure each grandkid knew they was special. She made sure every Halloween her kiddo’s were full with her chili and the good candy. That never changed even when they were older. She just added more for her great grand kids, who drove her bonkers but had her heart. In her spare time you could find getting her nails done and shopping. She was the definition of shop till you drop. At home you would find her reading her magazines, or watching anything with a mystery to it.
She was genuinely a breath of fresh air, a smile on a bad day, our rainbow after the storm. Now she is our angel.
Shirley is survived by her husband Larry Heflin of Oak Grove, Missouri, Son Jack Ligon {Carla} of Kingsville, Missouri. Daughter Desiree Gilmore {Terry} of Independence, Missouri, Daughter Diedra Anglebrandt {Joseph} of Oak Grove , Missouri, Three grandsons and four granddaughters. Twenty Two Great Grandkids. She gained many bonus kids and grandkids throughout her life that were her heart also.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father Ralph Rich, mother Mary Sprofera and brother Tony Rich.
Her family would like to welcome family and friends to her services located at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd Raytown, Missouri 64133. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM To 12:00 PM and her Memorial Service will start at 12:00 PM. A Graveside Service will follow soon after at Mt. Washington Cemetery located at 614 S. Brookside Ave Independence, Missouri 64053.
