Shirley Childers McKnight passed away April 20, 2022, at the age of 78. She was born in 1943 to Luther D. Childers and Lola A. Davis. She was the fifth child of eight born to this union. Shirley joined Christ at an early age and was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School System. She was employed at General Motors for 30 years and retired on March 1 of 2006. Shirley was born, raised and retired in Kansas City, Kansas. Kansas City, Kansas was her home! Shirley will be missed and loved by all who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Linda Canady, two sisters, Zolouise Adkins and Patricia Childers, three brothers, James Leo Bell, Samuel Bell and Luther Childers.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; one daughter, Sherl Canady, one brother, William Bell (JoAnn), one sister, Lolita Cook, granddaughter, Tamika Hill, great grandchildren, Alexandria Taylor and Orlando Taylor, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A mother holds her children’s hands for a little while and their hearts forever. Then God said it was time to come home.
A Viewing for Ms. Shirley Childers McKnight will be Saturday May 7th, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society. 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133.
