Mary I. Smith

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mary I. Smith, our loving and one of a kind grandmother, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

Mary I. Smith, 71, of Mexico, Mo passed away on May 13, 2022 at Pin Oaks Nursing Center. Ms. Smith was born January 3, 1951 in Centralia, Mo to Goldie Sweezer (Gentry) and Robert Sweezer.

Mary was cremated on May 19, 2022. There will be no funeral or visitation services, this was all per her wishes. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going to dirt track car races, and watching scary movies. She enjoyed family get togethers and time with her cats. She loved all pets but was partial to cats and hummingbirds, she always had at least one cat in her home and also put out hummingbird feeders outside her door or window so she could sit and watch them. She always put others before herself and took care of everyone. She did a lot for others. She will deeply be missed by her friends, family and all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Gentry; father, Robert Sweezer; son, Troy Kysar; her brothers, Robert Sweezer, Billy Sweezer and Gerald Sweezer; her sisters Dorothy White, Loretta Ivy, and Phyllis Smith.

Survivors include; Daughter, Wendy Ketterer (Bob) of Auxvasse, MO, Step-sons, David Kysar (Jennifer) of Mexico, MO, and Tony Kysar (Jeri) of Mexico, MO; grand-daughter, Ashley Powers(Jake) of Plainville, IL and Rachel Willett (Dyllan Bonk) of Hannibal, MO; Great-Grandson, Jaxon Powers of Plainville, IL; sisters, Linda McKenzie of Mexico, MO and Stella Smith of Centralia, MO, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews as well as a special family friend Brent Willett of Mexico, Mo.

    Aunt Mary was very special person Ronnie and I loved that woman she will be difinely missed love guys and hugs

    Aunt Mary was full of life and laughter This breaks my heart we are losing too many in our family, But I know that she’s at rest now And she is now with Troy and Cecil She will be dearly missed
