William (Bill) Barbosa Garza, Jr. a proud veteran of the United Sates Army passed peacefully on July 29, 2022, surrounded by family and his beloved dog, Buddy at his home in Kansas City, MO.
A Visitation (10:00am) and Funeral Mass (10:30am) will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in honor of both William and his wife Barbara Garza at St. John Francis Regis Parish, 8941 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138. Followed by an Interment of ashes at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138. A lunch reception will be provided at St. John Francis Regis Parish Hall following the burial.
William is one of ten children, born on March 13, 1947, to Guillermo Gallegos Garza and Lorenza Barbosa Garza. At the age of nineteen, William was drafted to the United States Army where he proudly served with honor and recognition in Vietnam, Co B 25th Supply and Transport Battalion and where he received The Great Seal of the State of Missouri medal for Vietnam War 1961-1975. While he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC (839th Transportation Company, ABN Corps), he met Barbara Lambert, who he married on July 27, 1968. Together they built a life and home for their four children and shared 54 years of marriage.
William was a skilled machinist and enjoyed working with his hands, tools, and gardening, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, if man made it, he could fix it.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful, loving, caring wife Barbara (Lambert) Garza, his beloved and deeply missed daughter Barbara (Garza) Ojeda, and parents Guillermo & Lorenza Garza.
He is survived by daughters Malinda Garza, Melissa (Garza) Enna, and son William Garza III, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
